This course will address the myriad of visual disabling disease in ophthalmology, including pterygium, cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and corneal diseases. Drawing from the expertise of internationally known experts, the course will cover a detailed discussion of challenges that arise in treating these patients. Advanced techniques, such as minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), DSAEK, and intravitreal treatments for retinopathy will be covered.
Upon completion of this activity the learner should have improved his/her ability to:
Discuss the challenges that arise when treating cataract patients with concomitant diseases such as maculopathy, glaucoma, optic nerve disease, corneal disease.
Discuss the diagnosis and medical and surgical treatment of ptergyium
Discuss cataract surgery in the pediatric patient.
Discuss diagnosis and treatment of diabetic retinopathy
Discuss diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma both medically and surgically
Discuss diagnosis and treatment of corneal diseases and surgical management with penetrating keratoplasty and DSAEK
